Apparently Mr Hitchens has been recieving threats. I cannot say what the nature of these threats are, or whether he has taken the sensible course and reported them to the police.
But it does seem to have Mike a bit rattled:
"When a credible source on another forum openly discusses the chances of my getting out of this alive - that gives me the right to decide who posts what."
This is all to do with turning on comment moderation, and Mike feels duty bound to make two posts in explanation.
But then I have no idea why people feel the need to make death threats.
Or indeed why anyone who is a McCann supporter would pay more than one visit to Mike Hitchen's blog. It is quite clear what his opinion is and threatening to kill him is not likely to change that. Which is not a judgement on Mike Hitchen's views, it is simple observation.

I am watching a review of every press cover done on this matter, by RTP (portugueses national TV)and to my surprise I was recalled that the first to say that the parents, or rather Kate, was related to a possible accidental death of Madeleine, was dear auntie Philomena, that did it even when her sister in law was under questionning in the PJ's quarters. It points to the fact that possibly the family knows more than the police...
Mike Hitchens is a bit off his rocker, I think. You just have to read the reader comments and his responses to them that follow his blog post "The McCanns: Why?" from November 1 to watch the unraveling of the man.
I had been reading his blog for only a couple of weeks (but not posting there) but have been expressing myself on Anorak for the last couple of months (as Jolie) ever since it was announced that the parents might have been involved in whatever happened to Madeleine. When a poster reasonably and politely questioned his apparent change of tune on that 'Why' post after all the hints he's dropped to his readers of being in the know and having inside, background information on the McCanns that would be devastating to them if ever made public, the anonymous poster was immediately labeled a pro-McCannic. When I stepped in to agree with and support Anon. 9:58, I was also ridiculed and belittled with taunts that I was a McCann supporter there to stir trouble.
I was surprised and upset by this misrepresentation and the insults, as I had thought Mike Hitchen might have been a credible source and had hoped he was. His lies and deceptions and complete overreaction and misrepresentation of the comments posted on his November 1 blog article has opened my eyes to what he really is--a fraud and a pathetic man, imo--and, at the very least, unprofessional.
You can read all of my posts on the subject on the Madeleine McCann threads over at the Anorak forum yesterday and today--many of which deal with Hitchen (and other poster's comments in response about him) by keying in Ctrl F while on the thread and typing in the word Hitchen. It will bring you to each post that references him and his blog, one by one.
I was completely flabbergasted by his recent Nov 1 and 2 blog posts about the comments posted on his blog and 'man the battlestations' approach he has taken. All of this simply because he was asked simple questions about his change in approach on the blog and how it appeared he had been bluffing about having the goods on the McCanns.
If I knew he only wanted comments posted that agreed with him, I certainly never would have bothered posting there or even reading his blog. It was a disappointment to me to discover what cowardly material the man is made of. I feel sorry by the people who are still duped by him.
I do not support the McCanns. I am most definitely suspicious of them and believe they know exactly what happened to Madeleine on May 3. Hitchen's claims that I was there to stir up trouble on behalf of the McCanns is false and I think he knows it.
BTW, anon. 9:58 came forward on Anorak yesterday after the Hitchen incident and said that she had been a regular contributor on Hitchen's blog for a few months (as psstfairy) but chose to use an Anonymous posting to write her mildly critical post on the November 1 blog comments section. I believe she is also not a McCann supporter. (You can read her comments on yesterday's Anorak forum).
Thanks for reading this long post. Hitchen really upset me by his behavior. I would like each person to make their own evaluation but encourage them to read everything I have referenced before making up their mind, if the subject is of importance to them.
BTW, I appreciate all the work you do to post information about the McCann case and linking us to sources that back up what you are saying. Even though I've been reading your blog for the last couple of months, this is the second time I've posted here. The first time was on your bloodless bloody footprint article, when I posted as Anonymous commented that the news article headline did make sense (footprint in apt. had blood/DNA but the car was just a shoe imprint with no blood).

Just to say about your comment on the bloodless footprint article... I was a little carried away by my thesis that the 'source' was Calrence Mitchell, and perhaps did not edit the quotes as carefully as I should have to maintain objectivity.
I have to say I’m not too worried about blog writers having a bit of a wobble.
Mike’s comment section has become a monster and perhaps he feels he needs to regain control of the beast. Jolie…I’m afraid you’re collateral damage, don’t take it too hard, after all, it’s his blog. I do enjoy his wit and a different sense of prospective. Perhaps the best way to deal with it is a shrug of the shoulders and move on to what you find interesting, rather then get bogged down in all the personal stuff. We all come from different backgrounds, have a different take on how we perceive the world around us.
Empathy is the key here, no doubt we will all bugger off and do something different once our concern over this unsavoury story has been resolved.

Jolie, I saw your post on Mike's blog and also the original posters comments (neither were rude at all) and I noted the sarcastic belittling responses from Mr Hitchen (that was unwarranted)and I must agree that Mr Hitchen is on an ego trip and only seems to give the time of day to the few who write "oh you are wonderful Mike" or "excellent post mike" - he has inferred for a long time that he knows "secrets" concerning the McCanns. Dangling the carrot and never ever coming out with any proof makes me feel he has made this up to generate the pay to view income on his blog. Now he writes about death threats (again no proof) and his PayPal donation logo has changed from grey to a very visible yellow.
He belittles the British public (he was born in britain) and he is sadly all hot air and wind these days. Now he has decided to morerate ALL posts which means we can be assured that subsequent posts will only reflect how clever/wonderful Mike Hitchen is - so his blog is totally unfair as it does not allow for freedom of speech and he will not allow polite questions that may in any way contradict his personal views and vendetta.
I used to post there until he was rude to me (and I never ever critisised him)so I am probably what he considers to be a keyboard monkey plus all the other insults he gives to people who do not kiss his backside with constant praise.
At least on this blog we are given the freedom of speech. I would like to see proof of Mr Hitchen's secret information and death threats - he can't give them because they don't exist. Try and give a reasonable question (as you refer to) then you are told "I know your IP address and I'll report you and have you shut down" - it's high time someone shut him down as his blog is libellous and full of racial hatred. Insane narcissistic people are often confused by others as being interesting, charming and thought provoking. Hitchens is nothing more than a narcissist with a blog. People who have been verbally attacked by him have every right to discuss his paranoid megalomaniacal behavior.
He has been claiming to have "inside" information that will reveal all for months and months. He has also been paranoid that the McCanns or Freemasons or Dan Brown are out to get him because he lol "Knows TOO much."
Reading his blog is imo a sad waste of time. I doubt everything he says and even that his bio is true.
I think Hitchen will somehow attempt to 'prove' the threats he's received. My take on the guy is he's been dishonest on several things he's claimed about himself, but even worse, he's used his so-called "team" for purposes they don't seem to recognize. He's been faking them out now for so long, I'm not surprised they're in denial. Same as the pro-McCannies, in that respect.

I saw that. I have just looked in his blog again and as far as I can see he has removed the posts also that you have quoted above. He removes all his tantrum posts so new viewers won't see how petty and childish he is.
Tonight I saw a post from an Anon. Carol 25 @ 5.55am who used caps in a post and more or less seemed frustrated about the McCanns and thought we should be doing more to find Madeleine. Well the follow ups to that post were all but an attack.
I saw the attacks on Jolie and Anon last week too. The man has obviously been put on a pedastil (sp) by his posters and the more they lick his a** the higher he gets and, at this time, he is so high up that dare anyone try take him down.
The little man is most certainly planning on writing a book, possibly about Madeleine, and intends to use all the posts on his blog for the story. His new T&C leads me to believe this. Insisting he has rights to all posts to do as he wishes, insisting that all posts from now on has to be origional and not copied from elsewhere. He is using his little followers to write a book for him which he is planning to take the credit for and make a fortune on.
Sad little man thinks that those who see through him are Pro McCann.
He certainly has NO inside information on the McCanns, he knows less about them than the rest of us do and he has no contacts at all slipping him information.
He is an arrogant sad little man and is only happy when he is being praised. He doesn't accpt critisizm and removes all posts that show him in his true colours, even removes his own posts that show how insulting he is to anyone who questions him.
I am not in the least surprised that he is not married. What woman in their right mind would have him, arrogant little so and so that he is.

It will be interesting if a book is produced and Mr Hitchn uses comments from before the T&C were slapped on his blog.
I notice that David Copperfield did not include comments in his book on policing, possibly because he did not have the rights.
Mike Hitchen was getting a lot of his info from reports from his on-location reporter Isabel, who has been translating Portuguese news on the McCanns over the past few months. Without her input I don't think he would have had so many readers. However, she is quick to attack anyone who might have an even slightly impartial comment often calling them an IDIOT. Mike is quick to defend her knowing without her his blog would be nothing, and lets her insulting comments stand. Anyway, it is his blog so either don't question anything or don't read it!
P.S. I don't believe he can trace IP addresses from comments because the Blog is owned by Blogger not him...what say you? Methinks he's just blowing hot air...
About Mike's new T&C - that's interesting that he says only original comments will be allowed, because most of his blog posts aren't original, they are direct copies of news stories stolen from other news media, and which can be found anywhere on the internet. He just copies and pastes these stories, without giving his own input on any of them, and I don't think THAT is original - a blogger should have at least something of their own to say, on a topic other than the McCanns (which is why his news posts usually have zero comments)
I just put a link on Hitchin's blog to your The Mirror Without Reflection because I thought it was interesting about the Mirror Forum and it was immediately deleted - I guess he only wants people to read his blog and not others.

I agree with all you said A Fan, tonight Isabel made a comment about sardines, knickers and bananas and Mike thinks its so funny he said he will include it in his book (how strange is that?). Also he said he's going to make a joke section, I guess this means he will be stealing other peoples jokes for his book too....shame, I used to like reading the comments on his blog but now it seems all the intelligent posters have left the building.....

What is strange about Hitchens is he is allegedy offering Anthony Bennett "help" in his (AB's) legal hopes to bring the McCanns to court for child neglect.
British magistrate has shot down Bennett's attempt (no surprise there imo). What is surprising is how AB is apparently impressed enough with Hitchens' offer or thinks it meaningful that he has posted MH's show of solidarity messsage on blogs and websites.
The McCann case has attracted a lot of extremely mentally ill people. There's an expat Briton living in the US who has a new Madeleine website. He is basically Mike Hitchens' twin living in the States. He refuses to debate and will only engage in dialogue if you are praising him; offering him free work or agreeing with him.
Like MH he has surrounded himself with groupies who will strike at you like mad hissing snakes if you say anything critical of their guru's many outrageous theories or try to defend yourself against his ad hominem (his favourite like Hitchens') attacks and even more immature tactic of taking your words out of context and not above creating outright lies from one's words to persuade his groupies that he is good and you are bad.
It's weird. This other narcissistic bloke's head popped up just as Hitchens'was being lopped off. Lol. And his demented followers will yell, "You don't care about Madeleine if you don't agree with our Madeleine martyr (yeah this strange geezer fancies himself a martyr for Madeleine) then you are anti-Madeleine and promoting child abuse." And several other false logic based argument.
I don't know if misogyny, racism and insanity were chronic characteristics of Hitchens but this new blogger's got it in spades. His dopey doppelganger in the US is making up for MH having overlooked the efficacy of these powerful lol online manipulation tools.
He believes he has cracked another missing child case and is anxiously awaiting results so he can collect the reward money. He has a female online partner (she claims to be journalist and is fond of name dropping and tries to sound like a criminal investigator). This woman, and I am not making this up, has repeatedly told the man with the new M site and his followers that they "cannot give up" because "we are so close" to finding Madeleine and proving the McCanns' guilt and even "they (the Mccanns)are afraid of us" blah blah blah.
They've not left their comp screens in months and have never set foot in PdL, let alone tasted tapas - but "they are close". It's amazingly mind boggling to observe.
So now you've all been warned. There's a new Madeleine Blog King in town and he's crazier than the last guy. ;) He'll even post your personal information (including your children's names) if he doesn't care for your comments.
PS ~ He also constantly posts how many people have emailed him to compliment him on his saviour quest for Madeleine and thanking him lol (I love this) for "giving Maddie a voice when no one else would". He, like a Hollywood advertising exec, gives daily, no almost hourly tallies of how many hits his site has received. Hitchens smitchens you ain't seen nothing yet. :)
